Soull and Dynasty are well-aware of the divine nature twins, or ibeji, hold in the Yoruban tradition, which they inherit from their paternal ancestry.* These twins are first-generation Americans born in Brooklyn, dripping with style in every sense of the word.
The spirit that Soull and Dynasty put into the world holds up to the mysticism expected of ibeji, drawing to mind heritage and ancient images but also an Afro-futurist vision. With their creative incubator L’Enchanteur (shortened to L’E), they employ jewelry, fashion, objects, and other accessories to make real their motto: “Transform Your Lifestyle.” According to the L’E About page, the brand is “inspired by the sciences, colour theory, numerology, religion, mythologies, magic, & fairy tales.” Their shared Pinterest board is a deep dive into this rich aesthetic universe.
The world has taken note of these twins’ mighty presence. The artist-alchemists’ work can be spotted on Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Chloe and Halle, and Beyoncé amongst others. In 2019 L’E was nominated for Accessory Designer of the Year for Essence’s Best In Black Fashion Awards. Brooklyn-based BRIC TV focused in on L’E for Episode 9 of a series that highlights some of Brooklyn’s most fascinating and unconventional creative residents (video below).
In this video, the twins are quoted saying that with L’E they want to “empower [people so that] when they put a piece on, they actually feel like they have a glow. Or that they’re receiving our energy through our pieces…Energy never dies, it’s just transferred.” A peep at the L’E Instagram shows how they’re doing just that.
